Summary
Ávila, Spain—home to UNESCO-listed medieval walls —features a Pokiddo-designed family sports and entertainment center in a downtown mall. A "crowd favorite" for weekend family outings and corporate team building, it fills a key gap for the region’s 160,000 residents: there was no decent all-age indoor park where kids, parents could all enjoy themselves. Previously, families chose between outer-city outdoor parks or tiny downtown playgrounds with a few ride-ons and a small slide.

Project Requirements: Identifying Directions from Local Leisure Needs
After receiving the project request, we communicated with the client for nearly a week. The client had spoken to parents at the mall, café owners on the street, and heads of several local enterprises, identifying two key pain points:
Difficulty in taking kids out: Parents wanted a place to take their children, but options were limited to outdoor parks (prone to bad weather) or small downtown playgrounds (lacking engagement for both kids and parents).
Lack of team building venues: Local small businesses struggled to find suitable team building locations—suburban hiking was too hot in summer and too cold in winter, while office icebreakers failed to motivate employees.
Thus, this project was never intended to be a "pure children’s park"; instead, "all-age sharing" was prioritized from the start. For example, the location was chosen on the third floor of a downtown shopping mall, adjacent to supermarkets and restaurants, allowing families to dine and shop right after playing. In terms of amusement equipment, we not only strictly adhered to safety standards (fully complying with EU EN1176/EN1177 standards, with everything from foam in soft play areas to trampoline elasticity tested by third parties) but also focused on "enabling the whole family to participate." As we’ve observed during operations, it’s common to see three generations visiting on weekends: grandfathers sliding down the 45-degree slide with their grandsons, parents dunking in the trampoline area, and grandmothers watching kids from the side of the soft play zone—everyone enjoying themselves in their own way.
Below is a detailed breakdown of the functional zones designed by Pokiddo for the Ávila project:
Five Functional Zones: Creating "Interactive Scenarios" Rather Than Piling Up Equipment
Total Area: 509 square meters
Trampoline Competition Zone: 111㎡
Slide Zone: 83㎡
High-Altitude Rope Adventure Challenge Zone: 270㎡
Themed Soft Play Zone: 135㎡
Rest Zone: 13.5㎡
Bathroom: 27㎡
Boxing Ring: 35.8㎡
1. Trampoline Competition Zone: More Than Jumping—A Hub for Parent-Child Interaction
Designed for children aged 7 and above, as well as adults, the trampolines here are professional-grade complying with PAS 5000 and ASTM F2970 standards. Adults can jump up to 86 centimeters high, while kids can reach 75 centimeters—all within a safe height range. Even if someone stumbles and falls, they won’t get hurt.
Based on operational experience from dozens of Pokiddo venues, this is not just a "kids-only area"; parents often engage more enthusiastically. For example, at the Spider-Man sticky wall, it’s common to see fathers putting on sticky suits and competing with their kids to jump the highest and stick the tightest, while mothers stand by taking photos, laughing harder than the children. There’s also the NBA-style dunk trampoline, equipped with a 4-meter-long buffer zone. Once, a 10-year-old boy practiced for 30 minutes and finally made a dunk—his father told our staff on the spot, "This is much more meaningful than playing video games at home."
Now this zone has become a "small stadium" for local teenagers. On weekends, groups of junior high school students spontaneously organize trampoline obstacle races. We’ve embraced this by providing small prizes, turning these kids into regulars who often bring their classmates along.
2. Slide Zone: Different Slopes for Age-Appropriate "Joy"
The slide equipment features two slopes to ensure inclusivity. The 45-degree dry slide is particularly popular among young children and the elderly, while the adjacent 60-degree extreme slide is a favorite among teenagers—who often say, "Sliding down every time feels so relieving, much better than cramming for exams at home."
For safety, we’ve specially designed dual staircases for traffic flow separation: visitors use the left staircase to go up and the right one to come down after sliding. Additionally, staff are on-site during weekends to prevent collisions during operation.
3. High-Altitude Rope Adventure Challenge Zone: An "Icebreaker" for Corporate Team Building
Originally designed for adventure-loving teenagers aged 8 and above, this zone has also become a hit for corporate team building. The artistic climbing wall uses colors to indicate difficulty levels—red routes are the easiest (suitable for beginners), while black routes are the hardest (for experienced climbers). When local enterprises organize team building here, employees can split into groups to compete in climbing the wall. Colleagues who were previously unfamiliar often pat each other on the shoulder afterward, saying, "I didn’t expect you to be so good."
There’s also a 3.5-meter-high jumping platform, with a 1.2-meter-deep foam pit below. Falling into it feels like sinking into cotton—soft and safe.
4. Adventure Challenge Zone: Where the Whole Family Can "Play Together"
The liveliest area in the entire park is undoubtedly the adventure challenge zone—whether it’s a 4-year-old kindergarten student or a 30-something parent, everyone can find fun here. Take the ninja obstacle course, for example, which includes balance beams, rings, and electric challenge obstacles. Imagine this scene: a father guiding his 6-year-old son through the course. The child clings to the rings, too scared to move forward, his face turning red as he cries out in fear. The father calmly reaches out and says, "Step firmly before moving. Don’t rush—once you’re steady, grab the next ring with one hand." In the end, the two cross the finish line hand in hand, and the child jumps for joy shouting, "I won!"
The 3v3 mini football field is surrounded by soft enclosures, so even if kids and adults play together, there’s no need to worry about collisions. On busy weekends, people often form "parent-child teams" to compete against "adult teams," with the losing side performing a small show—creating a lively atmosphere.
5. Themed Soft Play Zone: A "Safe Haven" for Young Children
For children under 6, the soft play zone prioritizes "parental peace of mind." All slides and children’s castles are covered in soft padding; even if a child runs and falls, they won’t get hurt. The ocean ball pit is equipped with interactive projection games—when kids pat the balls, star and bubble patterns appear on the ground. Many toddlers can play here for an entire morning. We’ve also added a dedicated toddler area separated from other zones by soft enclosures to prevent older kids from running in and knocking over the little ones.
Choosing Pokiddo as Your Amusement Equipment Supplier: We Create "Implementable All-Age Parks"
1. No "one-size-fits-all" design: An all-age park isn’t just a pile of amusement equipment. Like the Ávila project, we start from local needs—for example, knowing that elderly people in the area like to accompany their grandchildren, we specially designed gentle routes in the slide zone to enable their participation.
2. Safety goes beyond "meeting standards": EU standards are our baseline. We add numerous details, such as adjusting the height of soft enclosures in soft play areas and optimizing non-slip mats in trampoline zones—all through repeated testing and adjustments.
3. Operations follow user needs: We don’t just walk away after opening. Instead, we continuously adjust staff arrangements and zone guidance based on weekend peak hours and parental feedback—after all, the success of a park ultimately depends on its users.
The Ávila project is a meaningful practice for us: in a city with a thousand-year history, we’ve designed a place where people of all ages can find happiness. Watching parents and children laugh together, and colleagues having fun—this is the significance of building all-age family sports and entertainment centers.
